Here come the robocalls (UPDATE)

Good lord.

LONDON, Ky. — A western Kentucky minister says that Republican U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul is facing renewed attacks on his religion through automated calls to voters.

The Rev. Lucy Tedrick of Marion, a Republican pastor who supports Paul, said she got a call Friday saying Paul “is not a Christian and that he hates Christianity.”

Paul campaign manager Jesse Benton says the calls are “deplorable.” Conway spokesman John Collins said the campaign did not authorize or place any such calls.

Tedrick said the call was credited to the Kentucky Leadership Council, led by retired Marine Lt. Col. Andrew Horne. The Center for Responsive Politics says the group has spent more than $130,000 opposing Paul. He didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.

4 more days of poo flinging…

I’ll be posting the PAT BOONE robocall that a reader sent me a bit later. It is The Funny,

Again, if you get a robocall, please send me info at BAREFOOTANDPROGRESSIVE at GMAIL dot COM, anonymity guaranteed.

UPDATE: The AP apparently took the word of the Paul supporter without listening to the call. Updated AP story here.

Nate Silver says that Jack Conway has a less then 1% chance of beating Rand Paul.

PPP is supposed to release their last Kentucky poll sometime today.

Until then…

The KDP threw a big ole rally at the Frankfort HQ yesterday, featuring Jack Conway, Ben Chandler, Steve Beshear Wendell Ford and Crit Luallen. Below is video of Crit Luallen, Jack Conway and a small clip of the presser that Conway had afterward:

cn|2 poll: Paul 46.5, Conway 39

The consensus is most definitely a 8ish point lead for Rand Paul with 5 days to go. Here are the numbers:

Rand Paul- 46.5%
Jack Conway- 39%

Something’s got to change soon, or we’ll be looking at a double-digit win for Paul and 6 years of him embarrassing our state (God, I hope his staff doesn’t stomp on women in the Senate chambers who look at them funny… fingers crossed).

They also released poll junkie numbers looking at how Mongiardo and Grayson would be doing right now if they won the nomination. Not so surprisingly, Mongiardo was much closer to Paul than Conway (hasn’t been barraged with 6 months worth of negative ads). But shockingly, Trey Grayson was only a few points ahead of Jack Conway. Which seems to mean 1) there are a lot of hard feelings left over from the primary, and 2) if Grayson runs against Conway for Attorney General next year, it’ll be a hell of a fight for him. Grayson’s has a free pass over the last 6 months, but only squeaked out a slim margin over Conway… that doesn’t exactly bode well for a non-federal race.

I’ll post those numbers once cn|2 puts them up. (Now up here.)

In the meantime, we’re awfully close

Jack Conway is a “liberal”, you see, who wants to oppress the most downtrodden of them all in Kentucky: trust fund kids.

Jack Conway once shot a coal miner just to watch him die!

And all medical decision must be approved by OBAMA HIMSELF!!! (Jack Conway’s “good friend”, if you know what I mean)

Curbstomp this liberal DUMB-o-crat before he curbstomps your grandma with his Kenyan Death Panel!!!1!*

Pat yourself on the back RPK. You’re doing great work.

*(if your grandma is on chemo and wearing a WIG, she kinda deserves the curbstomping. It’s in the Constitution.)

Know your enemy: Meet Terry Forcht

Want to know the Kentucky gazillionaire behind Karl Rove’s attack ads on Jack Conway?

Meet Terry Forcht. As you can see, for him it’s quite “personal”:

Forcht heads nine community banks, owns 18 radio stations, a newspaper, a monthly and a printing company, heads a real estate brokerage, and operates a chain of nursing homes. One published report said Forcht held extensive interests in 93 separate businesses, some of which are subject to federal regulation. But in spending to elect Paul to the U.S. Senate, Forcht is not only advocating for an ally in Washington.

He is also seeking the defeat of Conway, the same man who, as the Kentucky attorney general, has been leading an aggressive and very public prosecution of a Forcht-owned nursing home for allegedly covering up the scandalous sexual abuse of an elderly resident. The case was brought after the nursing home allegedly failed to report to authorities, or even tell the 88-year-old victim’s family, that she had been sexually abused by another resident.

State records reviewed by ABC News show that Forcht is both the chairman and the registered agent for the Hazard Nursing Home, where the alleged incident took place. As such, Forcht was to be summoned to appear in a Kentucky court last month, state officials said. Forcht’s company and its administrator have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The case has been big news in Kentucky, with the lurid details of the elderly woman’s abuse played out in state and local newspapers. Conway issued a press release upon bringing the charges, saying he wanted to make a public example of Forcht’s nursing home. The charges, he said in a press release, were intended to “send a message to nursing home operators and administrators that they have an obligation to notify authorities if a resident is abused while in their care.”

What is it with all of these big shot Paul supporters abusing women? Shocking actions from people who fund a candidate that wants women to go to jail if they refuse to give birth to their rapist’s baby. Shocking, I say.
