Dyche abandons concern trolling for comedy

John David Dyche, noted concern troll/McConnell lackey/columnist at A Kentucky Newspaper, has strayed from his comfort zone in his recent column. Instead of faking concern over a candidate’s views/chances, he just goes straight forward with comedy. Like how super duper a governor Blackjack Williams would be for Kentucky:

All this assumes Williams is running. He certainly seems poised to finally pursue the prize for which his agile mind, expansive state government knowledge and powerful personal presence make him well-suited. Frustration probably plays as large a role in his decision-making as ambition does.

This is the stuff of genius, I’m telling you.

The ghost of Kentucky’s teabagging future?

Like Jake, I’m hearing the names of Phil Moffett and Kent Masterson Brown getting thrown around as part of the mysterious gubernatorial teabagger ticket for Republicans in 2011.

Which would be very very fun. Why? Jake notes Moffett’s tightness with Frank Simon, but the real fun is Brown, as you can see in the video below:

As Brown rawrs (after saying people will be denied health care because of their political beliefs):

“We look at this stimulus bill, and you look at some of these provision, and you ask yourself, what is this stimuling?!?”

Wouldn’t you love to see this guy growling on the campaign trail?

The National Republican Senatorial Committee no longer has to wince at every tweet of David Adams, who treats his Twitter account like a 12-year old girl treats her diary.

Republican Governors Association, he’s all yours.

Long live the Boy Scouts.

David Adams leaves the Rand Paul campaign

Hot off the AP:

LOUISVILLE — A key strategist behind Republican Rand Paul’s political rise says he is leaving Paul’s senatorial campaign to become campaign manager for a tea party-leaning gubernatorial ticket that is being formed.

David Adams said Tuesday he’s looking forward to his new role in next year’s governor’s race, and said his departure from Paul’s campaign staff does not reflect any conflicts in the campaign.

Adams was campaign manager during Paul’s successful run for the GOP Senate nomination, but was shifted to campaign chairman in a reorganization after the May primary.

Adams said he’ll manage a Republican gubernatorial ticket that he expects to form soon. He didn’t say who will be on the ticket, but said it will represent tea party ideals.

Adams is a Republican strategist and former blogger who had been with the Paul campaign since it began.

Begin rampant speculation on who that teabagger candidate is… now.

PPP: Beshear virtually even with Grayson, Farmer

PPP also looked at the 2011 race for KY governor, and finds Steve Beshear quite vulnerable:

Steve Beshear- 41
Trey Grayson- 38

Steve Beshear- 40
Richie Farmer- 39

Also, looking at Trey Grayson’s favorables (net +3), I’m damned glad that Rand Paul made it to the general (net -8). Thanks, teabaggers!

And as Jake notes, David “Blackjack” Williams obviously should have been polled, since he looks like the only certain candidate at this point. And he sure as hell wouldn’t have fared as well as Grayson and Farmer in this poll, I’ll tell you that.

PPP: Steve Beshear in big trouble

The PPP shows us that Steve Beshear has some work to do if he wants to be re-elected:

Right now 44% say they would vote for his eventual Republican opponent while just 35% say they’d support him for a second term.

Beshear’s biggest problem is a lack of support from within his own party. Republicans say they would vote to replace him 70-9 and independents do 45-25, but neither of those figures are anything unusual for a Democratic elected official in this political climate. But even voters within his own party only say they’d return him to office by a 58-22 margin, and he’ll need to improve on that quite a bit by this time next year.

Eh, maybe not.

Of course, the lady who conducted the audit seems like she would make a great Governor, herself.

DRAFT CRIT

Word.

Are you like me and don’t want to hear the words “Governor Farmer” in 2012?

Despite some folks sticking by Governor Beshear (despite his refusal to reform our tax code, firing gov’t workers who speak up about illegal mining, and answering every single question with “gambling”), anyone looking at the upcoming 2011 Governor’s race with a clear head knows that we’re likely headed for 8 years of Republican rule under Richie Farmer.

But who CAN win? The woman who has the strong record of taking on good ole boy corruption in government, whether they are Republican or Democrat. The candidate who was named national “Public Official of the Year” in 2009 by Governing Magazine. The candidate that can give Democrats a united front 2011, bringing together liberals and moderates alike with a message of bringing honesty and integrity to Frankfort.

That candidate is Crit Luallen.

If you want to help convince Crit to get in the race, join the Draft Crit Facebook group and let her know via email here: Crit.Luallen AT auditor.ky.gov

Is Crit entering the race a longshot? Sure, but for the sake of our state, we have to try, no?

Will Bullman become Cockman?

Dear Gawd, we can only hope so:

Marginally famous for riding a fake bull around the capital during his two previous campaigns, Hensley said he is now trying to obtain an oversized rooster to ride.

“I’m going to yell, ‘It’s time for (Gov. Steve) Beshear to wake up. Cock-a-doodle-doo,’” Hensley said.

Yes. Yes, please.

Just don’t say “ma’am, do you want to trade them girls for a good fat cock“, because that might end up even worse. You can’t ask them if they want to ride it either.
