KY Auditor, Treasurer primary candidates debate on KET

The Herald Leader and WFPL reported on the KET debate last night between the KY Auditor and Treasurer primary candidates last night.

There weren’t any fireworks among the two GOP auditor candidates, but Democrat Steve Hamrick came out firing against Todd Hollenbach.

“About the only person who has had a worse year is Tiger Woods,” said Hamrick, a Hopkinsville businessman. “But Todd’s had the opportunity to play more golf than Tiger has.”

Hollenbach responded by saying that he cleans his own toilet:

Hollenbach contended he is running the “most cost-effective agency” in state government with limited resources.

He noted that he didn’t hire a press liaison, and eliminated his state car and travel budget and the office’s legal and janitorial services, “even taking turns cleaning restrooms.”

I agree, it’s pretty cost-efficient when your office does almost nothing. Because when you don’t show up for work, you save money on electricity like, whoa. Well, Hollenbach is at least a member of the KRS board. And you know what a watchdog he’s been on that transparent body, right? Right?

Kentucky, meet your Republicans candidates!

cn|2 has all of the fun video from the statewide Republican candidates forum this weekend in Paducah.

Here’s one reason why Kentucky Democrats would be well-advised to get over any disappointment they have with Jack Conway in the near future. Todd P’Pool (pronounced ‘pee pool’):

But what about the fun stuff? Well, meet the jolly Lt. Gov. candidate Bill Vermillion. As you can see at 2:55 in the video below, he is a Birther, to which he receives a big round of applause from the Republican audience.

Also sure to be fun is Auditor candidate Addia Wuchner, who explains to us that she won’t be afraid to go after Democrats, unlike Crit Luallen. Ahem.

Finally, Some Dude Named Bill Johnson spoke about wanting to disenfranchise hundreds of Kentucky voters in order to avoid the plague of Mexican voter fraud.

Sadly, Bill Johnson (who is a birther) has yet to propose/tout a Birther bill similar to the one that might pass in Arizona, so we can keep the Kenyan Muslin off the KY ballot in 2012. Oh, but he will…

See all of the candidates at cn|2 here, including Lexington’s KC Crosbie (who didn’t mention Mexicans, Obama, or Kenya).

KC Crosbie running for KY State Treasurer

There have been rumors floating around for a while now that Lexington council member K.C. Crosbie was going to run for either state auditor or state treasurer.

I can now confirm that Crosbie is throwing her hat in the ring for State Treasurer.

K.C. Crosbie vs. Todd Hollenbach? I’ve never voted for a Republican in my life, but if that’s my choice? Crosbie is no right-wing fundie Teabagger nut, whereas Hollenbach has had no problem associating with Frank Simon. And the word on the street is that the hammer is about to come down on Hollenbach, largely related to this stuff. Even big shot Democrats are scrambling to find a challenger to Hollenbach.

I kind of wonder if Crosbie is loony enough to get through a Republican primary in 2011, though, so this will definitely be interesting…
