CentrePointe 6.0 Public Meeting… maybe this time…

March 1, 2012
By David M. F. Schankula

As noted last week, the latest team to take on the Webbs’ CentrePointe project will hold a public meeting today at 5PM at ArtsPlace on Mill Street.

They’ll tell you about the new plan, show off the new building and the three architects who are working on the Main Street side will also be there.

All you probably care about is the pedway — because that’s the only thing in this project we actually need — and hopefully the Webbs will not bow to pointyheaded pressure and will keep their pedway vision in tact.

As the Fabulous Ms. Fortune reports in the paper:

“We’re setting up a comment station where people can handwrite their comments, or they can e-mail or post them to our Facebook page,” said the firm’s spokesman Mark Arnold. “We definitely want to hear from people.”

You can find the good people of EOP on facebook at this link.

The project isn’t Jeanne Gang-strong, but it’s not where the Webbs started either so that’s an improvement.

1st Attempt (Cock n Balls version):

2nd Attempt (“Coming Soon”):

3rd Attempt (with “Pointe” chopped off):

4th Attempt (aka, “TombeStone”)

5th Attempt (the “CentreTubes” genius edition)

Current Attempt (the “CentreFatigue” version)

Now… will the Webbs be able to find hundreds of millions of dollars to build this before Joe Rosenberg decides to sell his parcels of land from under them? All we have is time.

Q#1: is the project fully funded?
Response if the answer is anything but “yes”: mass walkout

    There is no Q#2.

i’m not worried, the spaniards have all of montezuma’s gold so i think construction may actually start very soon… sooner than we think.

CentrePoint is not a City plan. It is a private developmental fantasy that should not be dignified with non-mocking attention until it has financial backing.

You’re usually better than that kind of straw man/non-sequitur.

I stand by my previous statement.

In less than a year, pedways from CentrePoint will join others from around the city. And we will be creating the largest pedway network in this history of mankind.

Mankind — that word should have new meaning for all of us today.

We can’t be consumed by our petty differences anymore.

We will be united in our common interests.

Perhaps its fate that today is the 1st of March, and instead of fighting for our freedom in Afghanistan, we will be fighting not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution — but for freedom to walk above the ground.

We’re fighting for our right to walk, to stroll.

And should we win the day, the 1st of March will not just be known as a Lexington holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice:

“We will not walk dangerously in the night!

We will not accept strolling by the homeless!

    We will travel in style!

We are the Pedway Capital of the World!”

Today, we celebrate our Pedway Day!
