Ben Chandler (R-KY) & Ed Whitfield (R-KY) team-up to "stop this out-of-control EPA"

By David M. F. Schankula

So yesterday Ben Chandler sent out an email to his Democratic supporters begging for money for his re-election campaign based on the Republican attack on Medicare/aid.

What he didn’t mention in his email was the Republican campaign to end the EPA’s climate regulations as we know them… or his support of the destruction of the EPA.

Does Ben not believe his Democratic donors are willing to give him money to destroy the EPA? Is he ashamed? Confused?

The Hill reports:

The House voted Thursday to block Environmental Protection Agency climate regulations, a win for Republicans who have put hobbling the agency’s greenhouse gas rules at the top of their policy agenda.

….[T]he passage of the legislation represented a symbolic victory for Republicans and some centrist Democrats, who have spent months railing against the EPA and its climate regulations. Proponents of blocking EPA climate rules have promised to make the vote a 2012 campaign issue.

The House approved the legislation in a 255-172 vote.

You will be shocked — SHOCKED! — to learn that not a single Republican voted to defend the environment.

And you will be equally shocked to learn that Ben Chandler and 18 Democrats voted to rip the EPA to shreds.

Chandler was unavailable for comment in his war on the EPA (guessing he was busy trying to exploit that whole Medicare thing) but his good buddy spoke for both of them and the entire non-Awesome Kentucky delegation:

“We must stop this out-of-control EPA and that’s precisely what this bill is designed to do,” said Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Energy panels’ Energy and Power subcommittee.

Without the glory of a Ben Chandler quote on the subject, let’s just lift this one from his email yesterday:

Will you help me fight this in the halls of Congress and donate $10, $20, $250 or more today?

And hey, all you good Democrats: while you’re thinking about giving Ben Chandler money to destroy the environment, please also throw some coin to his partner in crime, Mr. “GET OFF OUR BACKS!!!!”, Gov. Beshear.

Without your help, Kentucky Democrats, the environment might flourish, the water and air might be clean and all hell might break loose. We must destroy the EPA and our fearless leaders are doing just that…. leading. But they can’t do it without your support.
