Attention America: if Obama’s thugs continue their tyranny, Senator Rand Paul is going Galt. Yes, he’s going to go shit in the woods. Or in his lead painted outhouse.
OK, so where to begin with Rand Paul’s conspiracy on light bulb choice and Tyranny Toilets…
Let’s start with light bulbs. The line that Rand Paul is using is an old one, used with great hysteria by the likes of Michele Bachmann and Glenn Beck. They’re banning incandescent bulbs! If you try to buy one, they’ll put you in jail and throw away the key!
Yes, it’s 100% false.
Incandescent bulbs are still sold, and will be sold for many, many years to come. Incandescent bulbs now have to improve their efficiency (thanks to the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, which passed 86-6 in the Senate and 314-100 in the House), which they already have and continue to do.
Take it from Phillips Electronics:
There has been no ban on the incandescent light bulb. The incandescent light bulb actually lives. It’s just going to be 30 percent more efficient… They’re just going to find their electricity bills are a lot lower.
How about GE and Sylvania?
“There’s a massive misperception that incandescents are going away quickly,” said Chris Calwell, a researcher with Ecos Consulting who studies the bulb market. “There have been more incandescent innovations in the last three years than in the last two decades.”
With the new efficiency standards, experts predict more companies will develop specialized reflective coatings for incandescents. The big three lighting companies — General Electric, Osram Sylvania and Philips — are all working on the technology, as is Auer Lighting of Germany and Toshiba of Japan.
And what about this lack of “choice” that Rand Paul speaks of? Let’s see what the Ruskies at Lowe’s say:
“With incandescent, fluorescent, compact fluorescent (CFL) or halogen, you have more choices than ever when it comes to buying light bulbs.”
More choices than ever, yes.
What Rand Paul and his pals don’t want to admit is that government intervention created more choice, and is producing more energy efficient bulbs that will save everyone money. So Rand Paul is free to choose whatever incandescent or non-incandescent bulb he wants to for his lead-painted outhouse.
Then again, maybe Rand isn’t admitting what he’s really afraid of:
But Rand Paul is truly breaking new ground with his “toilet ban”, in which you will be thrown in jail by Obama and his “army of armed EPA agents– thousands of them” who will break into your home and discover that you’ve dared to pick up a Liberty Toilet off the black market.
The only way to stick it to these fascists is to go Galt. Just remember to carry around toilet paper with you at all times. It’s a Liberty thing.
