Their release doesn’t go out until tomorrow, but a friendly firefighter who is not a fan of clowns sends along the word that the Lexington Professional Firefighters Local 526 has endorsed Jim Gray to become Lexington’s next mayor.
This marks the third strike against Jim Newberry when it comes to city workers, as now the LFUCG civil servants, police and firefighters have endorsed Jim Gray. When those who have had to work with Jim Newberry for the last four years reject him so strongly and uniformly, that kind of speaks volumes about him, no?
Bonus news for your enjoyment: Un-elected appointed councilman Doug Martin, once again, failed to get the endorsement, as the firefighters went with his opponent Kevin Williams.
Extra bonus news for your enjoyment: I have obtained footage of Doug Martin receiving the news on Friday that they were not endorsing him. Apparently, they told Dougie that he gets to “drink from the fire hose”, but Doug didn’t get the reference until it was… too late:
